VunjaBei Sports, the athletics and recreation arm of VunjaBei (T) Group Ltd, has officially launched its Youth Sports Development Programme in Dar es Salaam. The initiative aims to nurture young sporting talent and promote healthy lifestyles among the city's youth.
The programme covers five core disciplines: football, basketball, athletics, swimming, and martial arts. It is open to young people aged 8 to 21, with training sessions held at partner facilities across the city.
"Sport has the power to transform lives," said the VunjaBei Sports management. "This programme is about more than just developing athletes - it is about building character, discipline, and confidence in our young people."
In its first phase, the programme expects to enroll over 500 young athletes. Participants will receive professional coaching, access to quality training facilities, basic sports equipment, and regular health check-ups.
VunjaBei Sports has partnered with several experienced coaches and former national athletes who will serve as mentors. The programme will also include educational workshops on nutrition, injury prevention, and sports psychology.
Outstanding performers will have the opportunity to receive scholarships and represent VunjaBei in regional and national competitions. The long-term goal is to establish VunjaBei Sports as a pipeline for Tanzania's next generation of competitive athletes.
The programme launch event was attended by local government officials, sports personalities, parents, and hundreds of enthusiastic young athletes eager to begin their sporting journeys.
